Acupuncture

For over three millennia, Asian Acupuncture practitioners have been helping people prevent disease, relieve pain and improve overall health. Acupuncture is the most commonly used healing modality throughout China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam – and now for almost three decades it has become very popular in Western countries. The United States along with Europe and Australia are currently incorporating Acupuncture methods along with Western medical treatment.

The theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine is that there are over acupuncture1two thousand acupuncture points on a physical body. Each of these points associates with internal organs and the nervous system with connecting pathways that are called meridians. Energy/Qi is the energetic flow within these meridians. If Energy/Qi is blocked, the body will respond by showing signs of pain, disease or other negative health imbalance.

The goal of Acupuncture is to promote and restore the balance of Energy/Qi throughout the body. Acupuncture works by activating the body’s own healing abilities by using the highest quality hair thin steel needles. At ChengAcuCare we only use disposable ‘single-use’ needles in accordance with the FDA. Unlike Hypodermic needles, acupuncture needles are much smaller and inserted at a shallow level. Each person will have a different experience and most individuals will feel a very minimal sensation as the needles are placed on the body. The World Health Organization has recognized that Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine treat many common ailments such as: circulatory disorder, emotional and psychological disorder, neuromusculoskeletal conditions, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory disorder and even problems associated with addiction.

At ChengAcuCare, we believe in integrative medicine, which is the combination of understanding Western methods and treatment while using Eastern traditional Chinese Medicine. By reviewing the patient’s diagnosis records a treatment protocol is created solely for the specific individual. Depending on the patient’s condition, Acupuncture needles will be inserted on specific areas (meridians) of the body. Sometimes Electrical Stimulation and Moxibustion are used in addition to improve therapeutic effects. Treatment periods can range from three to ten sessions depending on the individual patient’s condition.

It is highly recommended to have a small meal prior to an Acupuncture treatment to avoid low physical energy as well as dizziness. After treatment, it is suggested that the patient rest for the balance of the day. Bathing should be postponed for two hours post treatment. Pregnant woman can receive Acupuncture but be sure to disclose this condition with your practitioner. The continued use of prescribed medications as directed by your primary physician will not effect your Acupuncture treatment however patients taking blood thinners and or other blood medication should be aware that some bleeding and bruising at the Acupuncture site may occur. Acupuncture is increasingly recognized by Western medicine as an effective alternative or adjunct health modality to conventional medical treatment. Acupuncture has positive health promoting effects on the physical body with minimal incidence of side effects.
